Wahoo & Humpback Whale Expedition
French Polynesia | Austral Islands
Join In Depth Expeditions for an unforgettable week in remote Rurutu, French Polynesia, combining two incredible ocean experiences: hunting wahoo in the deep blue waters of the Austral Islands and swimming alongside humpback whales and their calves in crystal-clear water.
Rurutu is one of French Polynesia’s hidden gems. Its steep volcanic drop-offs attract pelagic species, including seasonal wahoo, while its protected waters become a nursery for migrating humpback whales.
This is a fully organized, small-group expedition. Once you arrive in Rurutu, all logistics are handled, including accommodations, meals, airport transportation, and a private charter.
Five full days on the water are scheduled with flexibility built in to maximize conditions. Depending on weather, whale activity, and fishing opportunities, days will be split between bluewater hunting and whale encounters.
Led by In Depth Expeditions founders, this experience is designed for adventurous watermen and women looking for more than just another vacation.
